THANK YOU!

Thank you for all your prayers for Gary and our family. We have received emails and phone calls from all over the world! Some from friends and family, some from old friends that we have lost contact through the years, some from strangers who have seen this site. What a wonderful family of God we have! I appreciate the comments left on this blog as well. I can't respond to everyone, but want you to know we are so blessed by the words of encouragement! Gary received his first treatment late last night. They had to make sure his body was at a certain alkaline level before even starting. The plan for now is to give a high dose of Methotrexate. After 24 hours, they will then give Leucovorin, which is basically a high dose of folic acid to get rid of the Methotrexate. They have to monitor his urine constantly to make sure the drug will not damage his kidneys. He will not be released until the Methotrexate is out of his body. Then, he will have a week off and come back in to start over. He is feeling better than he has for the last 3 weeks. We believe it is because they gave Prednisone with the treatment last night. The steroids seem to help the pain in his eyes. Every once in awhile I will post some pictures of Mayo Clinic complex, surrounding buildings and Rochester countryside. Pretty soon the leaves will be changing and that will be beautiful.... but cold!
